What is your preference for the spinnaker pole: jaws up or jaws down? why? Also, do you have a single trip line or two?

Jaws up, always. When jibing the poll must be able to drop out of the guy. On a windward douse or free flying before a drop again the poll must be able to drop free.

Thanks for input. I know some people do jaws down but I’ve never been able to figure out why they think it’s preferable.

Jim is correct. Olson jaws UP!

The reason some do jaws down…
On our dinghy, we do gybes while standing in the cockpit, so when you release from the mast; you reach up to release, then naturally the mast end is pulled down; the guy end teeters up, releasing from the guy.

Oh and I prefer a single trip line…
