Fleet Meeting Report
13/02/07 10:54
12/11/06 Thank you to all who attended out
fleet meeting and trophy resentation. The boats
who attended were Family Hour, Hoot,
Dragonsong, Utopia, Hush, and Voodoo Child.
The fleet approved the new schedule and went over the requirements to qualify for racing in YRA. To qualify for the Olson 30 must have five boats race 50% of the season. To qualify your boat you must race in six races. You can sail any six races during the season.
Also remember, we will need to have some starters in the Vallejo race. If we do not, we could be asked not to race this race in the future. The Vallejo race will not count for our season and it doesn’t count towards your six races for the season.
In April we will have an Olson 30 crew swap/practice day again. For the people who don’t know or remember what this is, it is a day where we get all the owners and crews together and swap boats and crews. For new owners it will help get you up to speed on your Olson, and for older owners it will let you meet your fellow Olson 30 sailors and also see how some of the other boats are setup. This is a fun event and everyone who did this event last year had a good experience. We will get the date to you as soon as we find out what will work for most of the boats.
The fleet approved an ad to go into the Latitude 38. The intent of this is to build fleet awareness and Hoot and Voodoo Child will be working on it.
The last fleet business item we went over was the fleet officers. I’m stepping down as Fleet Captain. Charles Barry of Voodoo Child has accepted the position, and will be the new Fleet Captain. Jeff Blowers of Naked Lady will still be the fleet Treasurer. A new position of webmaster went to Greg Gorsiski.
Lastly, we handed out the season daily trophies and the two fleet perpetual trophies. Naked Lady got second for the 2006 season. Hoot was first for the 2006 season. Congratulations again for winning the season.
