Hi Gang,
My mast head Tri-color that came with the boat just got smashed (mast vs mast). I am looking to get some replacement lights. I have read every forum and cant seem to make up my mind. How are you guys running your running/nav lights? Pulpit? Mast Heat, etc..? Thanks!

FYI I bought a strobe/tricolor from Orcagreen.com. It is a very sturdy unit and uses one switch for anchor, strobe or tricolor. The switch can use existing 2 wire or a 3 wire configuration.Hi Lilya,

One of the first things I did when I bought Oldschool was take the mh light off (and all the other masthead stuff and conduit). Personally, I think any weight up there is a pretty big deal IF you are racing OD. If you are doing more PHRF or LD stuff, I think the increased visibility is worth the small price. I will be installing some Atwood led deck mounted lamps before the 300
I am doing offshore races thus a masthead light is required.
I just weighed the old light: 14 oz. while the Orca is 10.2 oz. Although there was a plastic bag involved with the old parts…Have you thought of were exatly you will put the Atwoods? Here in Seattle, i race PHRF, so you bring up an intersting point. thank you.

Is there no requirement for a masthead light for the 300? I was just checking if we needed one for Main Duck . . .@ Derek – No. I have had a fair bit of discussion with them about if I could just use my temporary LED’s on deck or if I needed to install permanent deck lamps, and they indicated that to do indeed have to be permanent fixtures. The only “SHALLS” is that they may not be mounted below deck (ie in the hull like Santa Cruz’) and they shall not be obscured when sailing. There is a “SHOULD”…that they should be no lower than the upper lifeline.
@Jiri – bicolour lamp will be just forward of the pulpit. Not exactly sure where the stern light will go yet.
Bought a tricolor on ebay…$29? Then I put in a LED bulb. This can’t weigh more than a few oz’s. I prefer the light up top, plus it lights my windex at night.
