I hope this doesnt repeat but I tried this once and didnt see the post…..
Can we use a Lifesling in place of the horseshoe bouy required by our constitution?
Lifesling may be great for recovery if you have the opportunity to respond quickly. Imagine having the spin up, it’s blowing 20+ and the reason your crew is in the water is that you just crash jibed, you can’t just put the helm over… With the horseshoe & pole one can quickly deploy, get the boat under control and have a better chance of finding your crew in the water and then getting to them. Great item, not a replacement for a MOP.
Should really have both. I have the circular lifering attached to the MOB pole and a Lifesling. Lifering/horseshoe buoy is to throw to the MOB. Lifesling is to get them back on the boat.
