I’ve searched and searched and found mixed reviews of Asym kites for PHRF racing. Since I’m one of 2 Olson 30’s in eastern Canada one design isn’t an option and we are often short handed.
So we ordered an A Kite…a big one that will allow us to sail just before beam and slightly below broad depending on the wind. We’ll tack it to a block on the bow and fly it from the tack line with some assistance from the pole from time to time.
Not sure if anyone has experience in this but we’re pretty stoked and will get to try it out for a day or two before Chester Race Week on August 10th where our main competition is Olson 30 Ghost, a Viper 640, a hobie 33, a J120 (I think it’s a 120) and a Kirby 40.
Thoughts on the A Kite can of worms?
