Does anyone have experience with installation of positive buoyancy in an O30? I read some had done this for ocean crossings. Specifically, how much weight would have to be off-set? I figured the maximum would be: 3,600 boat + 400 misc stuff + 1000lb crew= 5,000lbs. But on the other hand, the hull is balsa-cored (I’m pretty sure that the boat with crew and gear would float full of water without the keel, so the minimum would be to off-set the keel weight of 1,800lbs).
Any thoughts?
