I have a tuning problem I wonder if anyone can help me with and an idea for fixing it – am looking for advice on whether this would be considered to be class legal – there seems to be considerable flexibility in how the Olson’s are rigged, so I don’t see that it would be illegal.
Basically, my problem is that with my single spreader mast, the section between spreaders and mast tip bows to the left – the top appears to fall off to the right – no amount of adjustment to the lower shrouds can get rid of this.
I know a lot of the Olsons have gone to double spreader rigs – I’ve discussed this with the owner of Eleven in Nova Scotia – he has the same problem, but can tune it out due to having a double spreader rig and more wires to adjust…
What I’ve been thinking about is adding a set of what are I think called diamonds – (from jr sailing in Laser 2s many years ago). Included a rough diagram. Picture on the left is my mast – picture on the right is my idea to fix it. Any observations on whether this might be class legal or not – or other alternatives?
