The Loyalist venue will work and they have demonstrated that they can pull it off. The owner is a part owner of IG and has bent over backwards to make all the Soling regattas I have attended as both competitor and race management officer in the past. We also have access to some high caliber race management capability in the immediate vicinity. I’m guessing the Loyalist venue will guarantee 3 boats out of the gate, Onaturel, IG and Ritalin. The Can Am challenge does look like an interesting venue, but I seriously doubt we will see a competitor commitment based on location. In the past, it has been difficult for the Canadian group to field crews to compete in a US venue. Oswego, LYRA was a good example, boats were available but just couldn’t coordinate to get full crews and deal with border issues. It also a difficult venue based on the strong Niagara river currents and length of time just getting to racing areas. It is listed as 2 day regatta and I’m skeptical of the quality of racing that we will be offered.

A venue in Ottawa will also limit some of the LO boats. I suspect that IG will not commit to travel and personally We will have an issue trailering any distance this year.

Yes we need to finalize a location and see if we can get a commitment from a race management team immediately if Loyalist is chosen.

Both Terry and I have had contact with Dave Hinton (IG and Loyalist) and will try and work collaboratively.

Terry, can you send me some contact information so we can chat outside the forum for logistic issues.

Just drop the tongue to the ground and you will have lots of clearance. good idea to have it ready to slide out before you lower the nose.

Nicely done Bruce! I guess it’s to late to recommend a tyvek suit and a dust collecting sander hooked up to a shop vac. I does make for a hell of mess!

Bruce, you should fabricate a sanding device to take some of the delrin out of the bushing. They will swell when wet, I used a shaft mounted in a drill with a spiral of sand paper to enlarge ours. You won’t be happy with the feel if you leave them tight.

Having done the same repair 4 years ago, your on the right track Bruce. Other than the dust and maybe the itch, you have definitely enhanced a design flaw. The only other thing I would add is to epoxy in the mast base anchors in such a fashion so that your base block is adjustable fore and aft.

we have an anchor midway between tack horn and we also use the foreguy ring. another point we have used is the weather rail. they all work. It’s a delicate balance. Your goal is to accelerate air flow on the back side of the main. Telltales are useless and sheet leads are extreme to close the top. If it’s interfering with the kite we furl it up but leave it up and ready to go. It lives just forward of our hatch mounted spin bag and is always at the ready with a sheet always attached. go out and play when you get it dialed in you will know. 3/10 of a knot is sometimes seen and it makes a huge difference on those long point to point reaches.

O Naturel, 24.5. Single spreader. Main, the only North 3DR Olson main in existence! The machine had a meltdown before a second one was produced!

we use a staysail regularly on point to point races and yes it’s worth the effort. We have a north ultralight staysail on a micro furler and use it on point to point reaches with much success. best guess is it adds .2 to .3 of a knot to our VMG and over a 2-3 mile reaching leg it makes a difference. It accelerates the air flow across the back side of the main giving it more pull.
