Jim is correct. Olson jaws UP!
The reason some do jaws down…
On our dinghy, we do gybes while standing in the cockpit, so when you release from the mast; you reach up to release, then naturally the mast end is pulled down; the guy end teeters up, releasing from the guy.Oh and I prefer a single trip line…
Who is in charge of this event? Can you please email webmaster@olson30.org. Thanks.
d@SWG You also have to remember that in the 80’s most sailmakers did not have a plotter that would cut the logo letters out, they did it by hand. What I am trying to say is that a sailmakers LOGO might not have been exactly what was supposed to be the official logo.
I spot at least 2 differnet o’s from the brochure…

Dari
@Jean… Can you take a picture of the integrated soft shackle? Or do you have a place that you learned how to make it?
Dari
Here is a video of it Flying…
There is a video from the outside…I’ll take some pics if I can remember of how it “works” this weekend…

So I have a friend who wants to buy the whole boat…he is in the Marine Biz and wants to rehab it…so the parts are staying on the boat…
I think the tang does have to be hacked off…both my ballenger masts had the garhaure boovangs, and there seems to be a cut off tang under the mounting plate…
D
I took them off, my crew made me a cake!
Guys, I was trying to see if anyone is interested, I can do a formal proposal in about two hours…do you guys like the last weekend in September? Weather is GREAT, and wind is usually constant. I would be happy to plan for 2013 as well…Make it a big old TX party!
d
Don’t LAUGH…How about Dallas. We have three boats on Lake Hubbard that will compete. There are 3 others withing an hour or two. There are 2 in Houston, and a couple n New Orleans that would also make it.
It would be a central location, so both coasts would have an oppertunity to compete.
Race Committee would not be a problem (Dallas just hosted the US Sailing C of C’s), and neither would logistics(two cranes, tons of parking, mast hoist). We hoisted the 2009 J22 NA’s.
We have a new Hilton about 10 minutes from Rush Creek Yacht Club, as well as a pretty cool harbor district, with restaurants, a cat that make moonlight cruises, and all kinds of fun things todo. We are 22 miles north east of Dallas, if you bring the family, there is TONS to do.
I know, it is Dallas, in TEXAS, but come down and experience Texas Hospitality….
If you guys would have any interest, I would put together a formal proposal. The Olson 30 used to be HUGE at Rush Creek…

I have other ideas…
John, I will keep you in mind if I someone wants the rest…

I see what you are saying, there are TWO systems installed…one does just the Compass functions and the other is all about the speed/depth/wind.
I just assumed the plugged the sail comp into the other system to be able to display true and apparent.
Well, maybe I can just split the two systems. Heck, I just put my TackTic on the Melges, so maybe I will keep the Sailcomp and put it on Speedster.
I hear ya…but It looks like the system also has the wind/depth/speed instruments plugged into the system.
I AM NOT CUTTING ANY WIRES!
But I do not want to split the other two screens from the system.
d
The system model number seems to be 103AC Sailcon And I really need to sell the whole thing as a UNIT…so the Wind Transducer, Depth, Speed and the 4 screens.
There is also a remote control for the unit.
d
I have not tested the electronics, I have to get a new battery installed…
d
Bruce, no Tracks…it looks like this cabin had a completely different design…as there is also no cutout for the sink….
someone else already called the foredeck….
and I think someone called the cabin top one, but I will let you know.
d
Forward Hatch? The Foredeck one or the one for the main cabin?
Pictures LIE! I need the pulpits…I can be talked out of the Boom… I am in the boat for a whole lot more than $3500. I don’t want to lose money either.
D
Here is the deal guys, I DON’t WANT to cut it, but Storage is going to cost me an arm….
I want the trailer, but I would be willing to toss in my trailer that was freshly painted and new pads installed. It is a single axle Trailex.
I would be willing to let go of the Hull (w/ Broken Mast) and Trailer (NO Boom, Pulpits,or winches) for $3500. Other wise, I can sell the parts for WAY more than $3500…
D
And please email me at Dari@mySpeedster.Info…
So I really do not want to cut up the HULL…if someone would take the hull off my hands, I would make a GREAT deal on it…With that being said, here are more detailed pictures…

Its in Dallas TX, it has one the cover with the plexi opening…no rig, no spreaders…
Here are some pics…My point and shoot broke last night…so iPhone pics…I’ll get more this weekend.

I am not sure of the brand…I’ll check this weekend.
d
The boat has just been neglected…the mast is broken about 2 feet above the spreaders, the rear pulpit is tweaked, the front pulpit is tweaked…the bottom needs a complete overhaul….the finish is pitted like a golf ball…the inside needs a complete overhaul…lines are all bad…if he wants to come get the hull, I would be willing to let it go CHEAP!
PM me if you really want it. It was a Dallas Race Week winner in the past from what I understand…the previous owner just let it sit at the club and it is in real bad shape…I am sure the rudder can be used.
D
No BOD…none of the race parts…but the rudder would be usable if refinished…there is an engine mount…the mast step…pipe berths…cushions…Toe Rails are in fine shape…I might be talked out of the boom…it has the boom kicker (Garhauer)…it has 2 Harken (black) 40’s that look like they are in real good shape…then there are the blocks…an original Spinnaker Pole. Rear Hatch cover, front hatch cover, foredeck hatch…the inside cabinets. Chain plates…a Keel!!! heeeehheheeee….
I have not cut it up and if someone wants the hull to molest, I would be willing to let it go…
D
Thanks Dale!
We will be racing her at Harvest Moon Regatta…I think another olson out of Dallas is coming down too…come on…get a crew and joing us!
