I just got official news that the Olson 30 is going to be allowed in the Lake Ontario 300.

There was a risk of not meeting the stability rating, but we are just over 105 and the minimum is 103.

I have aloso been told that If we have a minimum of 5 boats we can have our own class.

So who is in? If we can get the minimum numbers I will provide a new trophy.
These boats were bred for long distance racing so lets lets get out there and show them what they can do.

We would love to participate and support the class, but unfortunatly none of the dates work for us. The early dates June thru. Mid August is just too busy for us work wise. And it just happens that the September date conficts for us with a previous commitment.

The Olson 30 would race inside. So no long trek out to the ocean.
We could always run our own long distance race.

Its only about 14 hour drive, the are lots of boats within about 4-6 hours, There are many other hotels that are much cheaper and only a few mile away. I have done Charelston 4 times and it always been a great time

We did break ours two years ago at Cork. It went as we pulled on the vang just as we started the first race. We were back for the start of the third race after finding a welder at queens and welding it back together. We then used it until last week when i finished a new one.

I own the sobstad sails loft in Barrie Ontario Canada. We have been using the Genesis sails for 5 years now and have been replacing them now since last fall. We have won the Kingston regatta twice out of the three times we have attended and should have won the other time except for a broken boom and a very serious medical emergency that prevented us from sailing the last day.
